CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
CASE STUDY: HARTLEPOOL DOCKS

DTP were asked to review the redevelopment potential of surplus land within Victoria Harbour at Hartlepool docks and prepare of a strategy to guide future progress and masterplanning work.

The area extends to over 300 acres, lying between the historic Headland community and the Marina and Town Centre. Our initial work involved providing a vision for the site that was firmly based on the planning, policy and commercial context and that provided for a sustainable mix of development that supports and enhances the Town Centre and Marina area. We also examined the physical constrains, including the need to safeguard the operation of the port, and provided advice on how the public and private sector stakeholders might structure a partnership to realise their vision.

DTP prepared a review paper and an implementation framework and we were subsequently appointed to oversee the appointment of a masterplanner to set out a physical framework for the development of the area based on our analysis and recommendations.
