STRATEGIC PLANNING
CASE STUDY: BROWNLOW HILL

Brownlow Hill is a strategically important area to the east of Liverpool City Centre between Lime Street Station and the Edge Lane Gateway. It includes Liverpool University, the city campus of Liverpool John Moores University, the Royal Liverpool Hospital and the Metropolitan Cathedral. In recent years it has become a key location in the development of the City’s knowledge economy, with the Mersey Bio Centre, Science Park Incubator and School of Tropical Medicine all located in the area.

DTP’s role was to establish a vision and set of strategic objectives for the future development of the area within the context of new infrastructure development and the evolving master plans of the two Universities. Our task also involved identifying potential projects through which the vision could be delivered. This vision has been adopted by key public and private sector stakeholders in the area and subsequently DTP prepared an action plan for the implementation of key “transformational” projects in the area.
