Who we are?

The growth of DTP's expertise in community regeneration, particularly where the key catalyst for change is sport has seen the evolution of a dedicated team within DTP: dtparticip8. The team comprising, Lesley Giddins, Kate Egford and Anna Devlet has considerable experience of successful programme development and management within this niche area, whilst also able to benefit from the wider physical regeneration expertise of the main company.

What we do?

As a company we understand how certain activities such as sport can be both a driver for regeneration and a mechanism for engaging communities in the regeneration of their local areas. Whether through individual participation or identity with teams or sports men and women, such activities can act as a tool to deliver broader regeneration objectives such as community cohesion, social inclusion, skills and training, health promotion and cultural diversity.

We specialise in three areas:

1.

Major events and social legacy

The power of major events to influence behaviour is well recognised. Look no further than the activity on tennis courts during every Wimbledon fortnight, the Euro 2004 England flag explosion or the number of Andy Flintoff replica shirts sported following the 2005 Ashes series. The hook to stimulate wider participation is identity with the players and the event, the subsequent range of potential activity is immense. Through events such as Commonwealth Games 2002, Women’s UEFA European Championships 2005 and the London 2012 bid, dtparticip8 have unique experience in creating and delivering social legacy programmes linking to health, social inclusion, volunteers, skill development, education, business and tourism.

2.

Facility development/project management

Regeneration is at the heart of the political agenda. There is a need to revitalise urban and rural areas, where the key to successful regeneration is developing the capacity of the community and securing a shift in mind set of key partners to take a broader responsibility towards their role within the community. dtparticip8 provides the expertise to secure added value to physical projects and initiatives in terms of addressing key social issues such as skills and training, health and community cohesion, particularly in relation to sport.

3.

Research and policy

dtparticip8 already has established good partnership working, providing specialist support to other delivery
agencies, including those with more specific background in research. Working with such agencies we therefore have the resources to bid for larger scale research projects, where we would offer a source of specialist knowledge. We are also able to independently offer this specialist knowledge to a larger organisation such as an RDA. There is a good understanding of research and research methodology, both quantitative and qualitative within the team.
